Even though the sky looks like it wants to rain and it even smells like rain and just because we want it so much right now….given that layer of bright blue beautiful atmosphere within…. it is highly Unlikely that we will see that lovely wet stuff.

Photo Challenge – Rise/Set
I love both sunrise and sunset so to find just one image for a Photo Challenge this week almost paralyzed me! I have so many….I have too many!
What tends to be my favourite type of “rise” or “set” pictures is actually PRE-sunrise or POST-sunset when the glow takes over our beautiful Alberta sky.
When I have an interesting subject to go along with the majesty above me – well…it ends up being just too good to be true!!

Photo Challenge – Beloved
Of course, the second living being (beyond dear hubby!) that I thought of, after seeing this was the weekly photo challenge, was my dog. To clarify, that would be dogs we have now and dogs we’ve had that have since passed on. Our canine friends, companions and working partners on this ranch are absolutely our beloved treasures. We could not function without them!

Variations on a Theme is the official photo challenge this week put forth from the team at wordpress…the engine behind the world of bloggers. My domain of agriculture never fails to provide me a response to these challenges.
This time it’s our young heifers. Normally they line up nice and orderly to the table for their morning “breakfast” but here comes my variant. Not content to just come and dine this little cowgirl literally came UP to dine!

Nothing could be more full of Chaos than a wild horse race at a stampede. Teams of four wanna-be cowboys rope a bucking horse, then the others try to hold him/her still while the fella that drew the short straw attempts to mount and ride for a few minutes in the stadium. Entertaining indeed!

I love words. I love learning new words. I love using clever words in my day to day conversations and had so much fun with this quirky little behaviour on an almost daily basis when in the office during my career days. Imagine my delight when the Photo Challenge presented today for the week is a new word for my files – Flâneur! What a cool word and what a cool behaviour it defines….”a detached observer of street life and surroundings…..”
I found myself being fascinated in such a way on my vacation in B.C. last month and sure enough I collected some images that reflected this fascination with the world around me.

Photo Challenge – Quest
Didn’t take me long to figure out what to post for this Friday’s wordpress photo challenge!!
Since childhood, I have always loved whales…any kind of whale. But it wasn’t until a month ago on the very day of my birthday [my very adult birthday, I should clarify] that I got to actually head out on the ocean on my Quest to view and photograph these lovely creatures! And to be so close to them…awestruck!!
Photo Challenge – Morning – Day Seven
This has been a fun week utilizing the weekly photo challenge – morning – as a personal daily challenge for me. I saved the best for last.
Thanks to my mom and dearly-departed dad, my morning now must begin with their ritual………coffee, chocolate and half a muffin.
You see, they would start their day in the kitchen reading their respective favourite sections of the newspaper over coffee (a most revered beverage in our family), a piece of dark (and it has to be at least 70% dark) chocolate, and one homemade muffin split in half to share between them.
Although dad now delights in his heavenly coffee, chocolate and muffins….mom faithfully continues the tradition every morning and I’m sure that in so doing, she feels a little closer to him.
It makes me feel closer to both of them!
